The title refers to the Valley de Takamaka on the Pacific island of La Réunion. 21°05‘33.2“S 55°36‘40.2“E
are the approximate geodata of a place where i found an orchid for which this box was originally built.
Taken from its natural habitat, the plant was relocated to Europe, where i gradually imitated the tropical
climate with the aid of technology. Initially successful, the plant recovered from the stresses and strains of
the long journey; lost leaves grew back and new roots sprouted. The technology also began to proliferate.
Artificial ventilation, irrigation, lighting and misting; microcontroller controlled and digitally monitored,
the focus shifted slowly away from the plant and towards the equipment.
